Supply Chain Management: ANSI Seeks Input on Potential Standards Coordination Initiative

10/15/2026

ANSI is seeking interested U.S. stakeholders to help inform a potential new coordination initiative for supply chain management standards, and invites them to share their perspectives.

The effort, initiated at the request of industry, is intended to be cross-sector and technology agnostic. This approach reflects feedback that organizations are increasingly pulled into separate technology- and sector-specific discussions that often address similar challenges. That can be resource-intensive and makes opportunities for alignment harder to spot.

What the Effort Will Explore

The initiative seeks to identify emerging needs, lessons learned from existing sector-specific activities, standards and conformity assessment gaps, opportunities for greater alignment, and areas for future coordination.

Areas for consideration include:

  • Traceability, visibility, provenance, and chain of custody
  • Data exchange, interoperability, and trust, including information sharing, common data models, identity, authentication, and assurance
  • Security, risk, and resilience, including cybersecurity, risk management, and business continuity
  • Sustainability and responsible sourcing, including sourcing practices, reporting, and environmental and social considerations

How to Get Involved

During this exploratory phase, ANSI is gathering perspectives on standards development, coordination, and implementation for supply chain management. Stakeholders interested in helping shape the effort or engaging with ANSI during this early stage are invited to complete the ANSI Supply Chain Standards Coordination (SC2) sign-up form.

In addition to responding through the link above, ANSI invites you to share this with experts you think need to be part of the conversation. Respondents may be contacted in the coming weeks and months to provide additional perspectives and will be notified of any future stakeholder discussions or standards coordination activities that may result from this effort.
