The White House has released the 2025 National Security Strategy of the United States of America, a document outlining the administration’s principles and priorities for U.S. foreign policy and national security planning.
The document’s stated purpose is to provide focus and coherence to American foreign policy by prioritizing core national interests, clarifying strategic objectives, and explaining how various policy tools should be employed to achieve those goals. It emphasizes the need for strategic selectivity rather than trying to address every global issue equally.
Standards are referenced in Section II, Subsection 2 of the strategy, on page 5: “We want to ensure that U.S. technology and U.S. standards—particularly in AI, biotech, and quantum computing—drive the world forward.”
