The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is requesting public comments on counterfeit certification markings.
View the Request for Information, published in the Federal Register.
The CPSC seeks information on the prevalence and safety risks of mislabeling or unauthorized use of these marks, the extent to which the CPSC and consumers rely on them as indicia of safety, and the financial impacts on affected stakeholders.
Among other questions, respondents are asked to identify which certification marks are officially recognized or legitimately used to indicate that a consumer product complies with applicable safety standards, and what criteria or processes determine their legitimacy.
Responses are due by July 6. See the full Request for Information for more details and instructions on how to submit comments.
