Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.
Jacqueline Campbell, voluntary standards coordinator at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has been honored with the Consumer Award from ASTM International’s Committee F15 on Consumer Products.
The award recognizes her dedicated contributions as an active member working on consumer product safety standards, as well as her work as a liaison between ASTM and the CPSC.
Campbell has spent nearly 20 years at the CPSC, bringing a strong technical background in textile science and fire safety to her current role managing the agency’s voluntary consensus standards development program.
Barbara Roper, former senior advisor to the chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is the recipient of the Consumer Federation of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
A distinguished consumer protection advocate and financial policy leader, Roper launched her career as a journalist — a foundation that grounded her lifelong commitment to clear communication and public accountability. She later served for 35 years as director of investor protection at the Consumer Federation of America, championing the rights of everyday investors at the national level. She concluded her career at the SEC, where she helped shape regulatory policy at the highest levels of federal financial oversight.
Roper is an active member of ANSI’s Consumer Interest Forum.
CFA’s Lifetime Achievement Awards are given to individuals who have dedicated their careers to protecting consumers and whose work has had a profound impact on public policy, consumer protection, and marketplace fairness.
Roper will be recognized at CFA’s awards celebration on June 4 in Washington, D.C.
