The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Enterprise Singapore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation on standards for critical and emerging technologies—including AI, quantum technologies, biotechnology, and additive manufacturing—where rigorous, trusted, and internationally aligned frameworks are essential.
The MOU was formalized on June 12 at the Standards & Conformance (S&C) 2026 Summit in Singapore. Enterprise Singapore, the country’s national standards body, operates under the Ministry of Trade and Industry and supports enterprise development across Singapore’s business community.
Aligning on the Technologies of the Future
The MOU's initial focus spans critical and emerging technologies, where internationally aligned standards are essential to enabling trade, protecting consumers, and creating the groundwork for innovation. Under the MOU, cooperation will advance across three areas:
Standards as a Competitive Advantage
Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu underscored that standards are one of the most direct levers a business has for entering new markets. For companies expanding into new markets, standards carry credibility that travels with them—and this MOU better positions U.S. and Singaporean businesses to bring that credibility to bear in new markets.
The MOU reflects ANSI’s ongoing work to strengthen the U.S. standardization system and build the international partnerships that critical and emerging technologies require.
ANSI’s Innovation Summit 2026, July 28-31 in Denver, will feature dedicated sessions on AI, quantum, and the role of standards across emerging technologies.
