ANSI-Led PASC Strategic Plan Approved at 2026 Singapore Meeting

6/23/2026

Representatives of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Federation joined standards leaders from across the Pacific Rim in Singapore this June for the 48th Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC) Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members approved a new ANSI-led five-year strategic plan and ANSI signed a bilateral MOU with host Enterprise Singapore. More than 70 representatives from member national standards bodies convened alongside senior leaders from international standards organizations, including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Led by ANSI president and CEO Laurie Locascio, Ph.D., NAE, the delegation took part in the June 11–13 meetings, as well as the Standards & Conformance (S&C) Gala Dinner and Summit on June 11–12. Hosted by Enterprise Singapore, the S&C Summit commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Singapore Standards Council (SSC) and the 40th anniversary of the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC). U.S. National Committee (USNC) representatives also participated in the IEC Asia Pacific Cooperation Forum (APCF) Mid-Year Meeting in conjunction with the PASC AGM.

Standardization Workshops

The PASC program featured three joint PASC and APCF standardization workshops covering:

  • Green economy and climate change
  • Emerging technologies
  • New business models for standards in a digital economy.

Veronica Lancaster, USNC president and vice president of standards programs at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and Dr. Mohsen Seifi, vice president of global advanced manufacturing programs at ASTM International, served as panelists for the first two workshops.

Five-Year PASC Strategic Plan Approved

As the U.S. representative to PASC and convenor of PASC Working Group 4, Policy and Governance, ANSI has led the development of the PASC Strategic Plan (2026–2030)—a five-year roadmap to guide the organization through an evolving economic and geopolitical landscape shaped by the rapid advancement of emerging technologies. The final draft, which incorporates extensive input from PASC members since last year’s AGM, was approved at this year’s meeting—a milestone in strengthening regional collaboration and shaping PASC’s future direction.

ANSI – Enterprise Singapore MOU

ANSI also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Enterprise Singapore to strengthen bilateral cooperation on standards for critical and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, biotechnology, and additive manufacturing. Announced on June 12 at the 2026 S&C Summit, the MOU reflects ANSI’s ongoing work to advance the U.S. standardization system and build international partnerships.

Through PASC, ANSI helps connect U.S. standards experts with their counterparts across the Asia-Pacific—sharing technical work, aligning approaches to common challenges, and building the relationships that make international standards work in practice.

The 2027 PASC AGM will be held on May 19–21 in Wuhan, China. For more information, please contact [email protected].
