ANSI Members: Submit Comments on China’s SAMR Draft Revision of “Association Standardization — Code for Good Practice”

7/09/2026

China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) is soliciting feedback on a draft revision of a recommended national standard: GB/T 20004, Association Standardization — Code for Good Practice. The ANSI China team will submit a coordinated response on behalf of the U.S. standards community and invites feedback from ANSI members to inform this response.

The draft revision reflects the increasing importance of association standards within China’s standardization system. The new standard would replace two existing documents: the 2016 good practice guide and the 2018 evaluation guide, moving association standardization from a softer guidance framework toward a more structured code of good practice. The draft covers the full life cycle of association standardization: organizational management, funding, intellectual property, appeals, emergency response, development procedures, drafting rules, implementation and application, internationalization, and a normative evaluation system.

Submit comments to [email protected] by July 17, 2026.

ANSI members may also submit individual or organizational comments directly to SAMR or the Secretariat of the National Technical Committee on Principles and Methods of Standardization (SAC/TC 286) via the National Standards platform by August 2, 2026.

Questions can be directed to [email protected].
