ANSI Hosts Second Bilateral Meeting with Ghana Standards Authority in Washington, DC

8/14/2025

Following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) convened a strategic bilateral meeting on August 7, 2025, in Washington, DC. The purpose of the meeting was to outline collaborative efforts in standards development and capacity building in the fields of engineering, information and communication technology (ICT), and critical industry sectors.

Building on GSA’s December 2024 visit, the discussions explored priority initiatives and opportunities for deeper collaboration. Topics included addressing challenges in standards adoption, enhancing technical training, and improving market access for Ghanaian industries.

The meeting was led by Regina Vowotor, GSA’s director of standards, who presented GSA’s work plan and outlined potential areas for bilateral partnership. Her presentation highlighted opportunities for collaboration and cross-cutting initiatives in standards and conformity assessment activities, including capacity building, cooperation with U.S.-based SDOs, and access to standards.

ANSI and GSA agreed to pursue next steps to advance these initiatives, including future collaboration to further the impact of the MoU.
