Standards on Display: ANSI Innovation Summit Showcase Brings Standards to Life

9/25/2025

Register for the Free Event on October 21

See immersive exhibits and discover how standards are the invisible forces driving progress—from breakthrough technologies to innovations that impact our daily lives! Standards Power Progress: Innovation and Transformation Showcase, an event during the inaugural ANSI Innovation Summit, will feature over a dozen dynamic presentations, live demonstrations, and interactive exhibits, providing attendees with a front-row seat to standards in action, presented by ANSI members and standards developers.

The free event will be held on October 21 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center Rockville, MD. A networking reception will follow. Registration is required.

The showcase will feature interactive exhibits highlighting:

  • ExoGames: Turning Standards into Innovation Through Competition: Explore ASTM International’s Exo Games, where cutting-edge standards drive innovation and facilitate technology adoption in critical emergencies. Organized by ASTM International’s Exo Technology Center of Excellence in partnership with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), this initiative showcases advanced exoskeleton technologies in real-world scenarios, while revealing how ASTM standards impact exoskeleton safety, quality, and performance.
  • Digital Standards: Did you know that in aerospace, nearly 40% of product definition is defined and controlled by standards? The Boeing Company will demonstrate how improving just one standard can impact the whole supply chain.
  • Emergency Use Ventilators and Resuscitators: See how the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and its members jumped into action to develop and release six Consensus Reports to enable the rapid development of safe and effective emergency use ventilators and resuscitators during the COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more about the process the experts used to develop the documents so quickly, using standards as foundational references.
  • Making Waves: How Standards Amplified Hearing Health Innovation: The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) will demonstrate how standards have amplified innovation, empowered consumer choice, and set the stage for the next wave of hearing health solutions. Conduct a real time test of your hearing, using an app supported by a CTA standard.
  • The Barcode Journey: From Product ID to Consumer Trust: Join GS1 to explore the visual history of the barcode and its next leap forward: a transformation that delivers traceability, regulatory compliance, and consumer transparency. Find out why barcodes remain one of the most influential technologies in commerce—an evolving language of trust, interoperability, and innovation!
  • Plumbing in Navajo Nation Community Spaces: See how codes and standards are tools for equity. IAPMO and IWSH charity efforts have helped modernized the interior plumbing infrastructure for the Baca-Prewitt Chapter of Navajo Nation by upgrading internal plumbing systems to ensure water conservation, efficiency, and reliable sanitation in alignment with community needs as well as federally recognized codes and standards.
  • Identity Credentialing: Learn how ID Technology Partners (IDTP) is working to provide a versatile identity credential employing biometrics, cryptographically enabled authentication, and multiple electronic interfaces encompassing both physical connectivity and contactless communications.
  • Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS): Did you know that over 3.2 billion people in low- and middle-income countries lack access to basic diagnostic imaging? Inteleos will demonstrate how standards support quality patient care and certification with POCUS.
  • Opioid Reversal Meds: See standards in action when lives are at stake. The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) will provide insights into the early revision of ANSI/ISEA Z308.1, - Minimum Requirements for Workplace First Aid Kits and Supplies, demonstrating how market need and real-world urgency can accelerate standards innovation. In particular, the session will show how the inclusion of naloxone empowers workplaces to become first responders in the opioid epidemic, saving lives before EMS arrives.
  • Enabling the Future Grid with NEMA’s Digital Substation Standards: See an interactive demonstration to find out how NEMA is leading transformation through the development and promotion of digital substation standards that enable interoperability, scalability, and secure data exchange across multi-vendor environments.
  • Invisible Standards with Visible Impact: DICOM in Action: Explore the capabilities of NEMA’s Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard, one of the most widely deployed healthcare messaging standards in the world! DICOM provides a universal framework that allows imaging devices and software from hundreds of manufacturers to “speak” the same language. See how at the virtual demonstration!
  • U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Building Information Management Standards Program: This presentation by the National Institute of Building Sciences outlines the OBO Building Information Management Standards program, fostering adoption and increased maturity in delivery and digitization of building information.
  • The Reinvented Toilet: Find out how International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Project Committee 305, Sustainable non-sewered sanitation systems, has helped deliver sustainable sanitation to the 2.3 billion people who lack access to basic plumbing services worldwide.
  • E-Bikes: See first-hand through videos and demonstrations how UL Standards & Engagement has been working with governments and city agencies to address the hazards posed by lithium-ion batteries in e-mobility devices.
