ANSI is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicolas Alcayde as chief information security officer (CISO). Reporting to chief digital officer Ed Anderson, Alcayde now leads the development of ANSI’s enterprise security program—protecting the Institute’s systems and data, safeguarding the trust its members and stakeholders place in ANSI, and supporting the organization’s broader digital transformation.
Alcayde brings nearly two decades of cybersecurity experience spanning hands-on engineering and executive risk governance. He joins ANSI from Crédit Agricole CIB in New York, where he spent ten years in a series of expanding roles, including head of cybersecurity engineering and deputy CISO. Most recently, he served as the bank’s global head of cloud cybersecurity, where he helped structure the security foundation for the bank's global move to the cloud.
Previously, Alcayde worked as a security consultant in Paris with British Telecom and Logica CMG, advising clients across the aerospace, banking, and telecommunications sectors. He holds a master’s degree in cybersecurity and cryptography and is a certified CISSP, CISM, CCSK, and CCNA.
Alcayde will be based in ANSI’s New York office.
Wael William Diab, vice president of AI, IoT standardization and strategy at Futurewei Technologies, Inc., and chair of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, Artificial intelligence, has been named to The AI Policy 100 (2026), Knowledge Networks and Regulating AI’s annual index of the individuals defining the global direction of AI policy. The list recognizes 100 policymakers, regulators, researchers, and industry leaders shaping how AI is developed, deployed, and governed worldwide.
Diab has served as chair of SC 42 since the committee’s establishment in 2017. Under his leadership, the subcommittee has grown to include more than 50 participating national bodies and developed a portfolio of international standards spanning foundational concepts, data, trustworthiness, ethics, use cases, computational approaches, and governance. He has been active in international standardization for more than two decades.
In 2025, Diab received ANSI’s Edward Lohse Information Technology Medal, which recognizes outstanding efforts to foster cooperation among bodies involved in global IT standardization. In 2023, SC 42 received ISO’s Lawrence D. Eicher Leadership Award for excellence in standards development, presented to Diab and SC 42 committee manager Heather Benko at the ISO Annual Meeting in Brisbane, Australia. ANSI holds the international secretariat of SC 42.
Arvind Raman, Ph.D., director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and under secretary of commerce for standards and technology, has been named to the 2026 TIME100 AI list in the Leaders category. The annual list recognizes the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence.
Raman is the 18th director of NIST and the fifth under secretary of commerce for standards and technology. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 18, 2026, and sworn in on June 30 in a ceremony led by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. In July 2026, he was named acting director of the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI), the Commerce Department’s hub for evaluating advanced AI systems, and he continues to lead both organizations.
Raman joined NIST after a distinguished career at Purdue University, where he most recently served as the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering. He joined the Purdue faculty in 2000 and was appointed the Robert V. Adams Professor of Engineering in 2012. His research has focused on atomic force microscopy, human biomechanics, and electronics manufacturing, and he collaborated with NIST researchers in nanotechnology throughout his academic career.
