ASSP Announces 2025 Construction Industry Safety Challenges Report

12/05/2025

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), together with J.J. Keller, a provider of safety and compliance solutions, has released a new research report examining the barriers, trends, and opportunities shaping the construction industry.

The 2025 Construction Industry Safety Challenges Report offers a data-driven view of how construction employers are working to protect workers in a complex environment. Based on more than industry responses, the findings revealed six overarching challenges that construction professionals must overcome in order to improve safety, health and compliance in the industry, including:

  • Navigating evolving regulations and standards, i.e., the need to interpret and apply standards across different trades and job sites
  • Changing the mindset of viewing safety protocols as a must rather than red tape
  • Communicating effectively between management, supervisors, and workers
  • Managing safety across multiple subcontractors and trades on job sites
  • Ensuring workers are well-informed and comprehend the information
  • Addressing construction and trade-specific workplace hazards
