Battery Council International Introduces New Educational Ambassador Sir Chargewell

2/05/2026

Ahead of National Battery Day on February 18, Battery Council International (BCI) has unveiled Sir Chargewell—a new mascot and educational ambassador designed to highlight how batteries power the world.

In the countdown to National Battery Day, BCI is showcasing Sir Chargewell graphics with details that demonstrate batteries’ critical role in:

  • A 99% recycling rate circular economy
  • Supply chains
  • Military and national security
  • Emergency and critical services
  • Stationary energy storage
  • Transportation and vehicles
  • Data centers and telecommunications

National Battery Day, celebrated on the birthday of Alessandro Volta, the Italian physicist and chemist who invented the electric battery at the turn of the 19th century, underscores the importance of batteries as a key component in the global economy.

BCI features downloadable graphics to share for its social media campaign with the hashtag #NationalBatteryDay.
