12/19/2025

Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Clean Power Association (ACP) recently welcomed Melanie LaCount as its new chief of staff, communications.

LaCount brings over 20 years of experience in strategic communications and energy policy to the association. Previously, she held roles shaping and communicating national energy and environmental policy at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In her new role, she will help elevate ACP’s work to power economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen communities.

“I am honored to join the American Clean Power Association at such a critical time for American energy,” LaCount said. “The clean power industry is keeping energy affordable, strengthening the grid, and driving economic growth in communities across the country. I look forward to expanding ACP’s leadership in telling the story of affordable, reliable, American-made clean energy.”

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) announced the promotion of Brienne Willcock to the newly created position of associate executive director, strategy, standards, and industry engagement at IES, effective January 1, 2026.

Willcock currently serves as director of education and standards at IES, where she has been instrumental in advancing the Society’s technical excellence and educational programs.

“I’m honored to step into this expanded role and continue advancing IES’s work at the intersection of education, standards, and industry collaboration,” said Willcock. “As IES evolves, aligning our strategic initiatives with the needs of the lighting community is more important than ever. I look forward to helping guide that direction and ensuring our work remains both rigorous and deeply relevant.”
