Dr. Roy Swift, co-founder and executive director of Workcred, has announced his retirement, effective February 27, 2026, after 25 years of service with Workcred and ANSI.
Swift first joined ANSI in 2001 as program director of personnel certification accreditation, and was later promoted to senior director. He also served as the Institute’s chief workforce development officer, where he conceptualized and built an accreditation program for organizations that certify persons under the standard ISO/IEC 17024:2012, Conformity assessment – General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
In 2014, Swift co-founded and launched Workcred—an affiliate of ANSI—shaping its mission to achieve a labor market that relies on the relevance, quality, and value of workforce credentials for opportunities, growth, and development. Under his leadership, Workcred has become a trusted authority on credential quality, spearheading groundbreaking research on the return on investment of workforce credentials, the value of quality certificates and certifications in the labor market, and the importance of standards for workforce credentials.
“Dr. Roy Swift is recognized by his peers as an enthusiastic champion for quality credentials and workforce standards. I am grateful for his exceptional leadership at both Workcred and ANSI,” said Dr. Laurie E. Locascio, ANSI president and CEO. “Roy built a strong foundation for Workcred’s mission of ensuring workers have the credentials and recognition to prove their expertise. I am confident the organization will continue this important work as we search for his successor.”
