Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of leaders in diverse areas of standardization, contributing to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance system.
The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) recently welcomed Simone Pérez as its vice president of civil aviation. She previously served as AIA’s senior director of civil aviation from 2022-2023.
In her new role, Pérez will lead the association’s civil aviation policy agenda and advance global aviation safety and competitiveness while supporting innovation and sustainable growth across the industry. She will work closely with member companies and domestic and international partners.
In addition to shaping policy on certification, rulemaking, emerging technologies, air traffic systems, environmental performance, and unmanned aerial systems integration, she will represent AIA in key global forums, including the International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations.
Pérez brings with her over a decade of senior experience across government, industry, and Capitol Hill, most recently serving as the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) assistant administrator for policy and strategic engagement. For that role, she led strategic policy, international aviation efforts, and agency‑wide initiatives.
She has held senior aviation policy roles in both the U.S. Senate and House, where she helped draft and negotiate multiple FAA reauthorization and modernization bills. She holds a bachelor’s degree in government from Skidmore College and a master’s degree in international commerce and public policy from George Mason University.
The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) has welcomed Rachel Ross as its vice president of energy policy.
Ross has two decades of experience building coalitions and driving transformative programs to accelerate the energy transition across technology, government, and power sectors. Most recently, she consulted for clients including the Corporate Energy Buyers Association. She previously led energy strategy and policy at the United States Department of War.
Ross has bachelor’s degree in communications and political science from UCLA and a master of philosophy degree in modern society and global transformations from the University of Cambridge.
