The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) will host two upcoming webinars offering educators, counselors, employers, and workforce development professionals resources to prepare students for careers in cybersecurity.
On September 16, Preparing Today's Students for Tomorrow's Cyber Careers will explore reality-based, future-ready education approaches that help students develop hands-on, work-based skills. Speakers from Evolve Security Academy, Boston University, DC Public Schools, and NICE will discuss integrating controlled realism into curricula, treating failure as valuable workforce data, and preparing K–12 students for immediate workforce priorities such as cloud security and generative AI.
On October 21, Helping to Chart the Course—Unlocking Student Pathways into Cybersecurity Careers will focus on the role of educators, advisors, and counselors in guiding students toward cyber careers. Speakers from North Carolina Central University and Moraine Valley Community College will demonstrate interactive career-mapping tools aligned with Work Roles in the NICE Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity and share adaptable strategies for helping students build their own career pathways.
