The U.S. National Committee of the IEC (USNC) is accepting applications for its 2026–2027 Professional Mentoring Program, which pairs emerging standards and conformity assessment professionals with more experienced members of the USNC community for one-on-one guidance, development, and overall success.
Submit the application by September 18, 2026.
Mentorship fosters the growth of early career professionals and enables them to be successful in their endeavors, whether their goals are to take on leadership roles in U.S. or international standardization activities, or to be successful contributing experts or delegates. It also serves as a way to retain new standards and conformity assessment professionals and to fill the pipeline for future leaders in the USNC.
The program spans the full academic year. Participants are asked to hold monthly calls with their mentor or protégé, with time not to exceed five hours per month. A program kick-off and two formal check-ins with program administrators—one around the mid-point and one as the program wraps up—round out the structure.
Pilot Program: USNC TAG Mentorship Program
Alongside the professional program, the USNC is piloting a new U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Mentorship Program that pairs emerging standards professionals with experienced U.S. TAG members for firsthand exposure to committee activities, technical discussions, and leadership responsibilities.
The pilot is designed to support knowledge transfer and succession planning as experienced experts transition out of committee roles. Participants will have opportunities to observe committee work, build relationships with industry leaders, and explore future technical or leadership positions that align with their interests and expertise. Applicants may indicate interest in TAG mentoring, professional mentoring, or both on the shared application. Specific TAG placements cannot be guaranteed.
