2025 U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day theme:  Standards for Public Health and Safety

The 2025 World Standards Day event, highlighting the theme, Standards for Public Health and Safety, will be held in-person on Thursday, October 23, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville, MD. IAPMO is serving as the 2025 Administrating Organization.

This World Standards Day theme celebrates the dedicated individuals and robust frameworks that make standards for public health and safety a reality in our increasingly complex world. From the water we drink, to the buildings we inhabit, to the transportation systems we rely on, nearly every aspect of our daily lives is safeguarded by private-sector-led, voluntary standards.

The WSD event will also include the presentation of the Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership Award to this year’s honoree, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense Program. In addition, the winners of the World Standards Day Paper Competition will be announced.

*Please note that WSD is separate from the ANSI Innovation Summit events, but held during the same timeframe.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) serve as co-chairs of the U.S. Celebration of WSD Committee. Organizations interested in joining the WSD Committee and being part of the annual U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day can contact Stephanie Carroll ([email protected]; 212-642-4890).
